The goals of the Triggering Event, in addition to those of the Fitness Check, are:

  • Produce a business valuation correlated to a personal, financial, and business attractiveness and readiness assessment to determine where the business value lands in the range of value
  • Discover the "Value Gap" between the current situation and a "Best in Class" value
  • Clarify the business owners goals, objectives, and timeframe for a business transition
  • Explore the tertiary effects of a business transition on the other affected parties

Components of the service include:

  • Business and personal risk Assessment
  • Profit Gap Analysis
  • Value Gap Analysis
  • Business Attractiveness Assessment
  • Business Readiness Assessment
  • Personal and Business envisioning statement
  • Business Metrics and KPI's
  • Creation of a plan to address the Business, Personal, Legal, Financial, Tax and Insurance issues involved in exiting your business

The triggering event will require substantial work on the part of the owner, family members involved in the business, and key employees. Usually, the process takes place over several months beginning with a series of assessments followed up by interviews with your Exit Planner.

The cost of conducting a triggering event is between $4,500 and $10,000 depending upon the complexity of the organization and the number of people involved. A preliminary (free) consultation with the business owner is needed before a price can be quoted.
